Night Club DJ - Bar DJMichigan Pro DJs began working in night clubs and bars in 1989.  Our crew has worked in venues in the Grand Rapids area such as: Magoos, Brann’s, Grand Villa Dungeon, Pour Arthurs, J. Gardellas, Rocky Muldoon’s (a.k.a. Tequila Willy’s), After Shock, Gippers, 54th Street Lounge, Midway Motor Lodge, Flamingo Lounge, Galewood and many others.

In the early 90’s, not only did we have one of the largest cd collections of music available, we also started offering karaoke before anyone else.  Our karaoke machine played 8-track tapes with the lyrics on sheet music.  Over the years, we have advanced to a revolutionary computerized system that has over 13,000 songs on a hard drive.  This means that we don’t have to sort through hundreds of discs anymore, allowing for more singers, and alleviating any chance of skipping discs.  Playing a song is as simple as pushing a few buttons.

To become a great night club or bar DJ, the first thing we must have is a very comprehensive music library to handle the requests of our guests.  Next, we have to know our music extremely well.  We could give a DJ all the music in the world, but if they don’t know the music, what good is it?  After we’ve spent some time in a particular venue, we get a feel for the type of music that the guests want.  Then it’s just a matter of mixing it up every week, to keep it fresh.

Just as important as having the proper music library is the way the music is mixed.  Dead air will most definitely kill a dance floor.  That is why we teach our guys how to club mix.  Club mixing is where you match the beats of two consecutive songs so that they blend as one.  This makes for continuous music with no breaks, which makes for a packed dance floor.  Now, we don’t want the same people on the dance floor all night, otherwise we won’t be selling any food or drinks, so this brings me to my next point.

The DJ needs to be able to “turn” the dance floor over so that they can maintain a packed floor, yet continually rotate the people.  While you bring a new batch of dancers to the dance floor, a great DJ has to be able to promote drink and food specials to those taking a break, since, as you know, selling these items is how a night club or bar makes money.

We have many talented DJs who have the experience necessary to build your business and keep your guests happy.  Whether it’s playing music, hosting karaoke, or a mix of both, we have the perfect DJs for you.  Call us today at 616-437-2800 or contact us online and let Michigan Pro DJs share what we can do for you!
